Chiropactic Care

A chiropractic adjustment is most commonly associated with treatment for the back, neck, and spine.  Did you know chiropractors can actually deliver an adjustment to just about any joint of the body?  Some chiropractors will only adjust the spine.  In our office, we can and will adjust more.  This includes shoulders, wrists, elbows, hips, knees, ankles, and more!

Electric Muscle Stimulation

This therapy will often be used on patients at the start of care, when a new injury occurs, or during a flare up. Pads are placed on the skin and the current is increased to the patient's comfort level. The name of the game here is pain relief. We often will pair this with heat or ice. This helps reduce pain, decrease tension in the muscles, and even relax the patient. This will usually be done prior to working with the doctor.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

This therapy uses sound waves to penetrate the tissue of the patient. A gel is placed over the area to be treated, and a handheld ultrasound head is slowly moved over and around the area. This has been shown to help with arthritis as well other musculoskeletal conditions. We really like to use this on bursitis.

Massage

Who doesn’t love a good massage? Massage and chiropractic make a great pair. Often with musculoskeletal conditions, both the joint and muscles of an area are compromised. The massage will focus more on the muscular component of the injury, and the chiropractic adjustment will focus more on the joint. Together, the results are better than if either treatment were performed separately. Massage is great at reducing muscle stress and tension. Our massage therapists are educated on your individual condition to help ensure better results.

Rehab Services

While it is common for the doctor to go over individual exercises or stretches with the patient during their appointment, we have a few specific rehab programs we perform with patients. Our goal in the office is to be your teacher. Our rehab programs are meant to teach and watch you perform the exercises for only 4-6 visits in the office. Once we are confident you are performing the rehab correctly in the office, we then release you to continue the rehab program at home. Most of the rehab exercises and stretches can be performed at home with easily accessible equipment such as an inflatable exercise ball and foam rollers.

Nutritional Therapy

While most patients come to the office specifically for musculoskeletal conditions, some patients seek more.  Nutritonal advice can always be incorporated in your treatment plan.  This can vary dependent on your needs.

Kinesio Tape

Have you ever seen the colorful tape that more and more professional athletes have been using over the years? This is called kinesio tape. It is an excellent form of treatment to help an athlete compete through an injury without restrictions in mobility like other forms of taping. When placed on the skin, it helps reduce pain, promote blood flow, and can even help an area drain and reduce swelling. Dr K has been certified and taken FMT basic and advanced courses through Rock Tape. Rock Tape is the brand of kinesio tape used in the office.

Ergonomic and Lifestyle Advice

Lifestyle is often what brings patients into our office.  You do not need a specific trauma or injury to cause a musculoskeletal problem.  Most of the time, it is a cumulative effect of micro-traumas we experience in our day-to-day.  Whether it be from putting on a few pounds, to always sitting at a desk, or sleeping on a poor mattress and pillow.  These are the things we will try to address during your time in the office to help correct and prevent a recurring problem.

We will talk about proper sitting ergonomics.  This might be how you sit at your desk or even in your car.  We will discuss how your desk should be set up and positioning of things such as your monitor and keyboard.  We will talk about how you sleep and what can be done to improve it.  Dr K is a huge promoter of Tempur-pedic mattresses.  As for pillows, this is just another area where our office stands out.  We supply patients with custom fit pillows from a company called Pillowise.  We physically measure you and fit you with a pillow specifically for your size.  We started using this company in 2019, and the results have been outstanding.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Dr K received M1 and M2 Graston training courses while in chiropractic school. This allows him to offer instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization to patients in the office. The goal here is to use tools to remove scar tissue accumulation over an injured area. This will promote faster healing of a soft tissue injury. This is very effective for tendinitis conditions just like tennis elbow or golfers elbow.
