Who We Treat

Here is the simple answer; just about anyone.  Over my career and training, I have continuously added on to the number treatment techniques and methods I use for patient care in the office.  This allows me to work on more complicated and difficult cases many chiropractors avoid.

Age

Any and all!  I adjusted my children when they were minutes old.  My youngest patient to date has been 4 days old.  My oldest patient was 94.  Some may read that and think, “How can a baby get adjusted?’  or “Isn’t it dangerous for someone so old to have their back cracked?”  It is important to understand how chiropractic adjustments work.  Not all patients get adjusted the same.  Not all demographics can undergo certain types of chiropractic adjustments.  When babies get treated in the office, it looks very different from other adjustments.  Most watching won’t even realize the adjustment is occurring until I explain to the parent what I am doing.  Baby adjustments are focused around stretching and mild pressure point releases done using my fingertips.  Geriatric adjustments are also done differently.  They are light force adjustments where the table or hand-held tools are primarily used to limit the amount of force being delivered.

Pregnant Patients

YES!!!  First of all, congratulations!  Chiropractic is incredibly safe and healthy for a pregnant mom and her unborn child.  There are multiple benefits to receiving chiropractic care while pregnant.  We help manage all the aches and pains that come along with your body as it changes.  As that belly gets bigger, don’t worry.  Our chiropractic table is prepared.  The table has a feature that breaks away specifically for this reason.  It allows the mother to the lay comfortably on her belly so the doctor can perform treatment.

Athletes

It does not matter if you are a grade school/high school/collegiate athlete, a runner, a weight lifter, or even something like a recreational golfer or weekend softball player.  Any type of athlete can have aches and pains from their activity.  Any type of athlete can also be looking for ways to improve in their craft.  Not only do we love getting athletes feeling better, but we also love working on their strength, technique, and flexibility.  All of this can lead to improvements in their ability to perform in their sport...this leads us to our next demographic.

Preventative Patients

There are plenty of people who treat with chiropractors for one reason; To help stay pain free.  Prevention is a main goal of chiropractic.  Yes, we are here to help patients with injuries and pain.  What happens to those patients once they are feeling better?  Well, that patient then has two options.  They can go off and continue living their life and come back when they need us, OR they can continue with preventative care to help maintain the progress they have made.  These patients will typically come in for monthly visits.

Trauma Patients

Had a recent slip and fall?  Were you just in a car accident?  Did you take a bad hit playing a sport and have a concussion?  Did you throw your back out, and now you have a slipped disc, disc bulge, or disc herniation?  It doesn’t matter if these injuries just occurred and are acute, or if these injuries are years old and chronic.  Most types of injuries can be treated in our office.

Surgical Patients

Having a surgery on your neck or back does NOT mean you have to avoid a chiropractor.  I have worked on surgical patients my entire career.  Many of whom were turned away by other chiropractors.  Surgical patients can be some of the most difficult cases we experience.  They often suffer from significant pain and are just looking for some type of relief.  These are also the types of patients I truly enjoy helping.  Most of the time when a patient has had a surgery, we do have to avoid adjustments over the surgically repaired area.  We can focus of other forms of treatment in the area such as soft tissue work or even rehab exercises and stretching.  We can perform chiropractic adjustments above and below those surgical areas as well.  This often allows relief of pain, discomfort, and tension.  For severe cases, I have even gotten on the phone with patient's surgeons to discuss their cases.  This allows us to confirm the safety of care for the patient.

Final Note

Reading all of the above may still leave you with answers as to whether or not a person with your condition can receive care.  The BEST way to determine this is to simply schedule a new patient consultation and examination in the office.  During this visit we will be able to determine if you are a candidate to receive care in the office and in what ways we can help.
