CARPAL TUNNEL
Welcome to Keep it Kinetic Chiropractic, where we prioritize your well-being by unraveling the complexities of musculoskeletal issues. In this exploration, we shed light on a commonly encountered condition: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Delving into the intricacies of its causes, symptoms, and our chiropractic approach, we empower you to reclaim comfort and functionality in your daily life.
Understanding Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a prevalent condition that affects the hand and wrist. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes compressed or squeezed at the wrist within the carpal tunnel—a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments. This compression can result in a variety of uncomfortable symptoms that impact daily activities.
Common Causes and Symptoms:
Repetitive Movements: Activities involving repetitive wrist movements, such as typing, using a mouse, or assembly line work, can contribute to the development of CTS.
Anatomy and Swelling: Anatomical factors, like the size of the carpal tunnel or the positioning of the median nerve, can increase susceptibility. Swelling in the wrist can also contribute to compression.
Symptoms: Individuals with CTS may experience tingling, numbness, or a "pins and needles" sensation in the thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers. Weakness in the hand and difficulty gripping small objects are also common symptoms.
