SCOLIOSIS

Welcome to Keep it Kinetic Chiropractic, where your musculoskeletal health is our utmost priority. In this exploration, we shed light on the intricate condition of scoliosis—a curvature of the spine that can impact posture, mobility, and overall well-being. Understanding the nuances of scoliosis, its causes, and the comprehensive chiropractic approach we offer at Keep it Kinetic will guide you toward alignment, resilience, and an improved quality of life.

Understanding Scoliosis:

Scoliosis is a three-dimensional deviation of the spine from its normal alignment, often characterized by a sideways curvature. This condition can affect individuals of all ages, and while some cases may be mild, others can lead to discomfort, reduced mobility, and even long-term health issues if left untreated.

Common Causes of Scoliosis:

  • Idiopathic Scoliosis: The most common form, idiopathic scoliosis, has no clear cause but often develops during adolescence.

  • Congenital Scoliosis: Present at birth, this type of scoliosis results from abnormalities in the spine's formation.

  • Neuromuscular Scoliosis: Caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular scoliosis develops due to muscle imbalance or weakness.

Recognizing Symptoms:

Identifying the early signs of scoliosis is crucial for timely intervention and effective treatment:

  • Uneven Shoulders or Hips: Noticeable asymmetry in the shoulders or hips when standing straight.

  • Curvature of the Spine: An observable sideways curve in the spine, often visible when bending forward.

  • Back Pain: Persistent back pain or discomfort, particularly in the lower or middle back.

  • Limited Range of Motion: Difficulty in certain movements, such as bending or twisting, due to the spinal curvature.

FINAL NOTE

Reading all of the above may still leave you with answers as to whether or not a person with your condition can receive care. The BEST way to determine this is to simply schedule a new patient consultation and examination in the office. During this visit we will be able to determine if you are a candidate to receive care in the office and in what ways we can help.
