TENDONITIS

Welcome to Keep it Kinetic Chiropractic, where we are dedicated to your musculoskeletal health and well-being. In this exploration, we turn our attention to the often-debilitating condition of tendonitis—an inflammation of the tendons that can impact various areas of the body. Understanding the complexities of tendonitis, its causes, and the comprehensive chiropractic approach we offer at Keep it Kinetic will guide you towards relief, rejuvenation, and optimal function.

Understanding Tendonitis:

Tendonitis refers to the inflammation of tendons, the thick cords that attach muscles to bones. This condition can arise from overuse, repetitive movements, or sudden injuries, resulting in pain, swelling, and restricted movement in the affected area.

Common Causes of Tendonitis:

  • Rotator Cuff Tendonitis: Affecting the shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis often results from repetitive overhead movements, such as those seen in sports or certain occupations.

  • Tennis or Golfer's Elbow: Tendonitis in the elbow, commonly referred to as tennis or golfer's elbow, is caused by repetitive wrist and arm movements, leading to pain on the outer or inner side of the elbow, respectively.

  • Achilles Tendonitis: Impacting the heel and ankle, Achilles tendonitis is often associated with excessive running, jumping, or sudden increases in physical activity.

  • Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper's Knee): Common among athletes, particularly those involved in jumping sports, patellar tendonitis causes pain around the kneecap and can affect mobility.

Recognizing Symptoms:

Identifying the early signs of tendonitis is crucial for timely intervention and effective treatment:

Pain and Tenderness: Persistent pain and tenderness in the affected tendon, especially during movement, may indicate tendonitis.

Swelling: Inflammation of the tendon can lead to localized swelling in the affected area.

Reduced Range of Motion: Tendonitis can cause stiffness and restricted movement in the associated joint or muscle.

FINAL NOTE

Reading all of the above may still leave you with answers as to whether or not a person with your condition can receive care. The BEST way to determine this is to simply schedule a new patient consultation and examination in the office. During this visit we will be able to determine if you are a candidate to receive care in the office and in what ways we can help.
